Sustainable Container Gardening For Your Downtown San Diego Homes

Plant a Sustainable Container Garden at Your Downtown San Diego Condos

Successful gardening in today's green minded world is gardening with sensitivity toward the environment, otherwise called Sustainable gardening.  A sustainable garden is something that you can have even at your Downtown San Diego condos.  You don't need a large yard to have one and sustainable gardens are fun and easy to implement into the daily routine of your Downtown San Diego condos. Here are some gardening practices to explore:

* Natural pest control

* Composting and Mulching

* Adopting smart watering practices

Sustainable gardens are often organic gardens that grow food without the use of petrochemical pesticides, herbicides and inorganic fertilizers.

The Soil

To start sustainable gardening, take a look at your soil as it's the foundation of your garden.  A couple of ways to increase the quality of your garden's soil is to mulch and use composting.

Water

The next important step in your sustainable garden is to water conservatively by grouping group plans together that have the same watering needs. Then you can choose a watering system.  You can use rain barrels to gather rain water which you can use to water your plants.

Pest Control

It is important to protect your plants from harmful pests, and it's simple to do so in a way that is environmentally safe.  Here are some methods to safely prevent pests in your garden:

* Grow plants that attract insects that eat pests

* Use non-toxic ingredients like ammonia, hot pepper, vinegar and borax to keep pests away and prevent weeds.

Try these sustainable gardening and your garden can thrive for generations to come.
